Spring Clean Your Mind

"The beautiful spring came; and when Nature resumes her loveliness, the human soul is apt to revive also."
- Harriet Ann Jacobs

We are now fully immersed in the spring season. While some of us have still not completely recovered from a particularly harsh winter, we can see signs of hope. The hint of green, buds on the trees and sunny, blue skies have helped to rejuvenate our spirits. While you may turn to the traditional "spring cleaning" in home or yard, why not use this time to spring clean your mind and spirit? Below are a few ideas to get you started...

  • Let go of a belief which is holding you back. Eliminate any belief which makes you say, “I can’t. “I can’t have good things” or, "I couldn't possibly get in front of people and make a speech." What is really holding you back? Perhaps ask yourself: Why do you believe that? Who (or what) is this belief serving?
  • Nurture your creative side. Start or re-start a creative endeavor which brings you joy. Being creative is a key human need and is a wonderful self-care practice when you are creating something just for you. Whether it is writing, music, painting or even learning a new language, commit some time to developing your creativity and have some fun.
  • Be out in nature. Many of us spend a great deal of the day indoors, whether in the office, at home or in the car. Now is the time get outside and reconnect with nature! Nature provides us the space and silence we need to breathe, let go of stressors and center ourselves in the present moment. Make some time to be out on your porch or deck, take a short walk or head to a local park, beach or forest. Even an extra 15 minutes a day outside can do wonders for the spirit!
  • Clear out all the "stuff". There are benefits to a good spring cleaning! Extra "stuff" and clutter can impact your entire life. Clutter is a constant reminder of things you need to deal with, and this can drain your energy. Clean out your office, closet, car or even your email inbox! Get rid of everything which serves no purpose now (or in the future). Less clutter surrounding you means less clutter in your mind.

So, let spring be your cue to let go go of what doesn’t serve your life and begin doing what does. Commit to taking one action every day and start moving forward. Come next spring, you may be amazed at your growth and results!

Be well,
Your friends at the Healer Within Foundation

5th Saturday Gathering - March 30

Some Highlights of our 5th Saturday Gathering on March 30, 2019: Starting & Sustaining Community Practice Groups with special guest panelists, IIQTC Teacher, Erin Reas and Tai Chi Easy Practice Leader, Dale Allen...

First, a sincere thank you to our panelists and to everyone who attended!

We discussed much, including how both of our panelists came to lead groups in their communities (two different, but equally inspiring stories), growing relationships to build your group (word of mouth is invaluable) and what characteristic they feel is even more important than skill when leading a community practice group (sage advice). Our panelists also shared many personal experiences, tips and ideas which provided useful examples of how to get a group started and keep it going STRONG!

Access a copy of the PowerPoint slides from the presentation HERE. If you are signed up to be a part of 5th Saturday Gatherings, you will also receive access to a video recording of the meeting. So, be sure to sign up to RSVP for this special series of Zoom meetings to make friends, get support, and stay in touch with others who lead practice and care about health and wellness! Space is limited so secure your spot on the cloud today!

Again, a special thanks to Erin and Dale for their awesome work in their communities and for presenting at our 5th Saturday Gathering.
