September To "Remember"

Oh, the summer night, has a smile of light and she sits on a sapphire throne." - Bryan Proctor

For many of us, this time of year is quite busy. However, most of us find that each and every season is a busy one! One thing is certain, when life gets busy, we have a tendency to become forgetful. Not remembering an important meeting or task can create added stress in our already hectic days - and nights.

Here are a few simple ways to help jog your memory and ease your mind:

  • Write it down: Memory researchers agreed, writing down a piece of information onto paper was the best way to remember it.
  • Identify a go-to spot: Keep things you use (or lose) regularly - like keys and eyeglasses - in the exact same place when you're not using them.
  • Create a visual story: Park your car in the green level of a parking garage? Picture it sitting under a leafy (green) tree so you don't forget where you left it.
  • Schedule a variety of reminders: Most of us have several resources available to us to help us remember things. Our phones, computers and tablets all have built-in calendar and reminder systems. Do remember, our brains naturally seek novelty - so you may have to switch up your memory methods every few months if they stop working.
What to do when despite your best efforts, you do forget something? Give yourself some grace, gather a few deep breaths and/or heavy sighs and carry on. The most important thing to remember - always - is to care for yourself!

Be well,
Your friends at the Healer Within Foundation
