If you reside in the Northern Hemisphere, the summer solstice will arrive in just a few short weeks offering what is usually referred to as the longest day of the year. Areas in this region of the world will see over 15 hours of daylight between sunrise and sunset. What to do with this precious, extra gift of light?
Perhaps you will take some time to honor the sun, participate in an in-person or online midsummer celebration - complete with flower crown - or host a bonfire gathering as the sun finally sets. Whatever you do, take special note of the feeling of completeness summer brings. Autumn signifies an "end", winter, a great transition and spring, a new beginning. Summer then, must signify life in full bloom - robust, lush and mature...full potential fulfilled.
Healer Within Foundation is moving into a similar phase of maturity. Our mission lives and breathes through the works of our leadership, volunteers, trainers, teachers and Tai Chi Easy™ Community Practice Leaders. We've seen amazing growth over the past few years as we've helped to increase the accessibility of self-care and self-healing practices. Yet, there is more to do to reach our full potential as we are, "Training thousands to improve the life of millions."
The Foundation fosters a culture of collaboration, and we would love to discuss with you how your time and talents could help advance a shared vision of, "A world of self-healing, wellness and vitality." Volunteers are always welcomed on our Sustainability, Research and Programs Work Team Committees. Additionally, applications seeking new program content providers will be available soon. Apply By June 15th: HWF Practice Leader Fellowship Program
 We are currently accepting applications for the NEW Healer Within Foundation Practice Leader Fellowship Program!
The Program seeks to identify and support remarkable individuals who cultivate practice groups with people and in communities which have been traditionally underserved, to increase the availability of self-healing for all people.
The HWF Practice Leader Fellowship Program will:
Solicit applications from qualified individuals to lead Healer Within and/or Tai Chi Easy™ practice groups in locations which might otherwise not be able to support such groups dues to lack of access; Identify and highlight extraordinary individuals who are reaching marginalized communities and support their efforts towards greater impact; Showcase creative approaches from diverse members of our global community; Inspire others to take innovative and creative approaches to implementing and disseminating Tai Chi Easy™ and other evidence-based wellness practices.
HWF will award two $1,000 fellowships in 2021. The funds are intended to provide teaching stipends to practice group leaders who lead groups with populations who might not otherwise support such leaders by fees or donations.
We welcome applications from individuals who meet all of the following eligibility criteria:
- Currently certified as Healer Within or Tai Chi Easy™ Practice Leaders,
- Leading (or will lead) practice groups, predominantly from underserved communities,
- Awardees must agree to all program requirements as follows:
- Commit to a full year of leading practice
- Provide a brief, written progress update after six months
- Participation in the Tai Chi Easy™ CPG Benefits Survey
- Agree to share Fellow experience through HWF publications and events, such as the
HWF Newsletter and Fifth Saturday program

HWF Educational Summit: Replay Available!
A full day of learning, sharing and FUN was held on Saturday, May 29th during the HWF Educational Summit, Bridging Healing Methods: Science, Art & Practice. We explored topics which helped attendees better develop their self-care, healthcare, personal wellness and teaching skills.

Of Special Note: Healer Within Foundation has recently been approved as a Professional Development Activity (PDA) Provider through the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM®). The Tai Chi Easy™ Practice Leader training is currently under review for a total of 24 CEU's issued by NCCAOM. We are excited to offer this new benefit for the NCCAOM members of the HWF community and look forward to providing more HWF educational content approved for NCCAOM CEU's!
Foundation Receives California Relief Grant
 Healer Within Foundation has been selected to receive a grant through the Small Business Covid-19 Relief Grant Program. The grant program - which has distributed over 4 billion dollars in aid to California-based small businesses and non-profit entities - is administered by the State of California and the California Office of the Small Business Advocate (CalOSBA).
"The Board of Directors is thrilled the Foundation was selected to receive this impactful grant, which provides financial support towards the ongoing education and services of the organization, while nurturing the HWF Vision and Mission," stated Dr. Kory Ward-Cook, HWF President. She added, "We are deeply grateful to our forward-thinking, Executive Director, Christie Ward, who had the foresight and capacity to identify and navigate the application and approval process."
